DSL and Cable Internet Access

Today there are many ways of getting a fast, reliable and cheap broadband internet access. DSL and cable are the most popular internet access technologies. DSL, digital subscriber line, is my favorite, because it uses your old telephone line. On your old telephone line you can in the same time have a phone call and use the super-fast internet connection of up to 100 Mbps.

The most common types of DSL are:

  • ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line)
  • HDSL (High-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line)
  • VDSL (Very-high-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line)

The first two types of wireless internet services – Mobile wireless internet and WiFi internet services are the most popular versions of the wireless internet access. They are the real wireless and mobile internet connections.

Mobile Wireless Internet

The mobile wireless internet, together with the WiFi internet access, is one of the most popular wireless internet services. The mobile wireless internet technology enables relatively high speed internet and the huge coverage. You have the maximum mobility in every place covered with the mobile internet and today most areas are completely covered by the 3G and even by the 4G mobile wireless internet.

3G mobile wireless internet technologies enable the following maximum speeds:

  • UMTS – up to 2 Mbps

WiMAX Solution

WiMAX – Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access enables wireless access over longer distances. WiMAX or Wireless MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) covers larger areas – cities or regions.  More about how WiMAX works you can read in the article What is WiMAX and How WiMAX Works.

Satellite internet

Satellite internet is the best option for remote and urban areas. It offers the wireless internet services with the speed up to 15 Mbps.

The biggest advantages of the satellite internet are:
